Steel Grating

Steel Grating

Steel grating is an open-grid structural panel composed of load-bearing bars and transverse cross members. According to the connection method between the bearing bars and cross members, QB METAL supplies welded steel grating, press-locked steel grating and swage-locked grating for different load, appearance and installation requirements.

  • Bearing Bar Size: 20 × 3 mm, 25 × 3 mm, 30 × 3 mm, 40 × 5 mm, etc.
  • Bearing Bar Spacing: 30 mm, 40 mm or customized
  • Cross Bar Spacing: 50 mm, 100 mm or customized
  • Panel Size: Customized
  • Grating Type: Welded Steel Grating, Press-Locked Steel Grating, Swage-Locked Grating
  • Surface Type: Plain, serrated
  • Material: Carbon steel, stainless steel
  • Surface Treatment: Hot-dip galvanized, powder coated, sherardized, polished stainless steel

Steel grating can be manufactured with different bar-locking structures according to load requirements, appearance and service conditions.

Welded Steel Grating is produced by resistance welding the cross bars to the bearing bars under controlled heat and pressure. This structure provides a strong and consistent connection and is widely used for industrial platforms, walkways, stair treads and trench covers.

Press-Locked Steel Grating is manufactured by accurately slotting the bearing bars and cross bars, then pressing them together under high pressure. Because both directions are formed by flat bars, the finished panel has a regular grid pattern and clean architectural appearance, making it suitable for platforms, screens, façades and projects where appearance is important.

Swage-Locked Grating is produced by inserting cross bars through pre-punched holes in the bearing bars and mechanically swaging them into position. This creates a positive mechanical connection while maintaining a uniform grid structure.

Bearing bar size, spacing, cross-bar arrangement and panel dimensions should be selected according to the required load, clear span and installation conditions. Serrated bearing bars can also be used where additional slip resistance is required.

Panels can be supplied in standard rectangular sizes or fabricated according to project drawings, including cutting, openings, curved sections, irregular shapes and edge banding.
