Concertina Razor Wire Specifications and Installation

Concertina Razor Wire is supplied in compressed circular coils for convenient transportation and storage. During installation, the coil is expanded to the required length, forming a continuous spiral security barrier. The final installed size and density are mainly affected by the coil diameter, number of loops, clip quantity, expansion length, and installation method.

QB METAL supplies different coil diameters, blade profiles, materials, and connection structures according to project requirements. Common coil diameters range from 300 to 980 mm, while the number of loops per coil can be 33, 56, 72, or customized.

Coil Diameter and Expansion Length

The coil diameter and expanded length should be selected together. The same coil diameter can result in different installation lengths depending on the number of loops and the spacing between adjacent coils.

When the coil is expanded over a shorter distance, the loops remain closer together and form a denser barrier. When expanded over a longer distance, the spacing between loops increases. Therefore, the required coil diameter, loop quantity, and expansion length should be determined according to the installation space and required barrier density.

Custom coil dimensions and loop quantities can also be produced for specific fence systems, wall-top installations, and perimeter protection projects.

3-Clip and 5-Clip Structures

Adjacent loops of cross concertina razor wire are connected at fixed positions using metal clips. The number of clips affects the connection density and the shape of the expanded coil.

A 3-clip structure is commonly used for standard applications and provides a practical balance between expansion length and barrier density.

A 5-clip structure provides additional connection points between adjacent loops, creating a denser and more compact spiral barrier. It can be selected when a tighter structure is required.

Clip quantity can also be adjusted according to the coil diameter and project specifications.

Blade Types and Materials

Concertina Razor Wire can be manufactured with different blade profiles according to the required security level and installation conditions. Common blade types include BTO-10, BTO-12, BTO-18, BTO-22, BTO-28, BTO-30, CBT-60 and CBT-65.

Available materials include galvanized steel and stainless steel. Galvanized steel is widely used for general outdoor perimeter protection, while stainless steel can be selected for applications requiring higher corrosion resistance.

Material and surface treatment should be selected according to the installation environment, required service life, and project specifications.

Installation with Fence Systems

Concertina Razor Wire can be installed as an independent security barrier or combined with other perimeter protection systems. It is commonly installed on top of welded wire fences, chain link fences, steel fences, walls, and security frames.

For fence-top applications, suitable brackets and support structures can be used to maintain the required coil position and installation angle. Multiple coils can also be combined where a wider or denser security barrier is required.

The final installation arrangement should be determined according to the fence height, available space, coil diameter, and overall security requirements.
