Stainless Steel Wire Mesh Materials and Applications

Stainless Steel Wire Mesh is available in different grades for different operating environments. Grade 304 is widely used for general industrial applications, while 316 and 316L provide higher corrosion resistance for humid, chemical and salt-containing environments.

Mesh count, wire diameter, roll width and weaving structure can be selected according to filtration accuracy, opening size, mechanical strength and application requirements.

Stainless Steel Grades

Grade 304 is commonly selected for general-purpose applications. Grades 316 and 316L contain molybdenum and provide improved corrosion resistance in more demanding environments. Grade 201 can also be supplied for applications where different cost and performance requirements need to be balanced.

Weaving Types

Plain weave and twill weave are commonly used for standard and fine mesh. Dutch weave is suitable for applications requiring finer filtration, while crimped weave is generally used with larger openings and heavier wire diameters.

Mesh Count and Wire Diameter

Different combinations of mesh count and wire diameter produce different opening sizes, open areas and filtration characteristics. Specifications can be selected according to the required aperture, strength and operating conditions.
